English Learner Considerations for School Business Administrators

In partnership with MATSOL, MASBO developed an online, asynchronous, 15-PDP course that meets DESE's primary professional license requirement for ESL/SEI PDPs. The pilot opens on March 16 and closes on May 31, 2026. Fee = $275

This course resulted from member-identified needs and the MASBO Board of Directors identifying it as an FY26 strategy.

Professional Development

Aligned with the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's educator standards and evaluation rubric, the work of school business administrators affect the community, district, school, and classrom to maximize student learning. As licensed educators in Massachusetts, continuous professional development is a pillar of MASBO and its members. Throughout the year, members increase their knowledge and skills through the equivalent of over ten days of in-person and virtual learning opportunities. Presenters are sought from the local, state, and national levels. Content and delivery method are selected based on audience and relevancy by MASBO's standing Professional Development Committee chaired by the Vice President. Registration, resources, and transcripts reside on MASBO's searchable learning manangement system platform, Learn MASBO. Annually, the Board sets the calendar and fees.

Professional Support: Licensure, Mentoring, and Coaching

Our Professional Support Program includes license-seeking apprentices, initially-licensed mentees, and professionally-licensed school business administrators serving as advisers/mentors/coaches. Applications for both roles are continuously accepted. Due to the cohort model, partnerships are assigned between June 1 and November 1 for each school year. We have several available advisers/mentors across the Commonwealth waiting to support the next generation of school business administrators.
